Were having a ...

I can't believe it, but we just found out that we are having a PRINCESS!!!! No not in the royalty sense as I'm sure you are aware, but she will be our Princess just the same. I'm so excited!!!!

I had myself convinced that we were having a Boy, 60% of you guys said Boy in the Poll, and Rich wanted a boy (but wouldn't say it), so when we opened the envelope to looked at the pictures from UC Baby, it took a while to sink in when we read GIRL.

We have made our phone calls, and I have updated my Facebook, so now the word is out. I'm off to bed to have sweet dreams about our little girl.

(Oh and this weekend I will scan and post the pictures from UC Baby.)

My sister also just found out that they are expecting a girl (due in June). Lots of girls & lots of fun!! I don't understand how they do the ultrasounds there... do they not tell you what you're looking at as you view the ultrasound on the monitor?

(Wow this responce could be a posting it's soooo long!!! haha)

Well because we have a Free Public Mecical System, we have regular medical ultrasounds. At those there is limited locations that will even look for the Gender to report it, and they tell you before you go in for your appt. that this is a medical scan and not for entertainment, and to not ask the Tech. as they will send the Gender to your OBGYN. They won't show you their screen until they finish the exam and even the Husbands are not allowed to come in until they are done. I think in total the lady showed us the screen for maybe 2 miniutes not even.

Then there are places like I went to (UC Baby), that are private service that is just for entertainment purposes (they don't look for medical problems). The package I'm paying for is just under $200 and when we go for our appointment on Feb 13th it will be 30 min. of a 4D Ultrasound, they will record it on a DVD, give us some pictures, and record the baby's heartbeat and put it in a Bear for you to take home.

At UC Baby you can bring as many people as you would like, there are large TV's on the walls for you to watch, and they do a live Broadcast on the Web (with a password) so family & friends that couldn't come to the appt. can watch.

They book the 4D Ultrasound for later in the pregnancy to get the best pictures, but they said I could pop by and they would just tell me the Gender. As Richard had to work, I didn't want to find out the Gender without him, so I had them put it in an envelope so we could open it together.

Believe me it was pure torture knowing that for the whole day while I worked that the answer was right infront of me!! But the wait was worth it!!!!!!

ah, I see. That is a bit different from here in the states. Even though it is a medical ultrasound... they will have the monitor faced to where you can see it & most ultrasound techs will describe everything they are looking at & measuring. And they'll ask you if you want to know the sex & then tell you if you do. So we watch the screen for the whole 45 minutes to an hour or however long they take.. & husbands are always allowed & most of the time other children, grandparents, etc are allowed as well. Then they'll print a strip of pictures for you. It is for medical purposes but they also realize that the parents want to know all the information & want to see the baby as well. We also have the places that are just for entertainment that you pay to get a DVD of the ultrasound & extra pictures & such. But a lot of the medical ultrasounds are now doing 3D/4D so a lot of time you don't even want to do another one b/c you've already seen the 3D/4D. My medical ultrasound had the 3D/4D & I only had one ultrasound my whole pregnancy with Jackson.
